The Role :
• Develop and improve methods of green sand molding, iron melting, alloying, SG alloy iron family and pouring of molten iron • Make experimental sand moulds, and tests sand for permeability, strength, and chemical composition. • Study specification and calculate quantity of alloying metals required. Melt alloys and pour metals under controlled conditions to make castings. • Perform physical and radiographic tests and evaluate data to develop improved alloys and foundry techniques. • Investigate properties of varieties of cast irons and develop methods to produce new alloys, and applications, • Conducts microscopic and macroscopic studies of metals and alloys to determine their physical characteristics, properties, and reactions to processing techniques. • Tests and investigates alloys to develop new or improved grades or production methods, and to determine compliance with manufacturing standards. • Develops and improves processes for melting, heat-treating, molding, and pouring • Directs heat treatment and sintering operations • Study and develop heat treating cycles • Trouble shoot and rectify problems arising out of heat treatment • Develop heat treatment cycles to achieve desired metallurgical properties • Responsible for production of heat treated components as per the developed plan • Handle operation of Heat Treatment Furnaces (Gas carburizing Furnace/Sealed Quench furnace) & induction hardening process. • Consult with engineers to develop methods of manufacturing at minimum costs. • Interprets findings and prepares drawings, charts, and graphs for reference or instructional purposes. • Write reports referencing findings, conclusions, and recommendations. • Guide laboratory personnel in preparing samples, and designates area of samples for microscopic or macroscopic examinations. • Guide production and quality personnel to achieve desired metallurgical properties
The Person
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgy with minimum 15 years’ combined experience in a reputed SG iron foundry, heat treatment and powder metallurgy • Possess experience in high pressure green sand moulding • Thorough knowledge of the Cast iron, SG iron and Steel specification • Thorough knowledge of sand testing, metallography, Spectrographic analyses and mechanical testing and their impact on the quality of the castings • Thorough knowledge of raw material and consumable properties and their impact on casting quality • Experience in process sample checking for ensuring proper Heat treatment. • Initiative and enthusiasm for process improvements, cost reduction and energy conservation • Knowledge of quality systems TS 16949, ISO 14001 and Environmental system OSHAS 18001 • Good communicating skills
1. Should be worked as Management Representative for TS 16949 in the Quality Management System in Foundry related to Auto Components.
2. Knowledge of APQP / PPAP / FMEA/ Control Plan / SPC / MSA / 8D
3. Supplier Development / Supplier Evaluation System
4. Knowledge of Castings & Machining Processes
5. Customer Compliant Handling / Customer Relationship
6. Six Sigma Holder
