Job Description:

- The Middle Tier Services – Technology Lead will work at the Shared technology services unit level to provide technical leadership to Shared Technology services and projects for Asset Management.

- The gamut of Middle Tier includes application hosting platforms, Messaging platforms, PaaS(Platform as a Service) & common frameworks to build the middle tier applications.

- This person will be a hands-on engineer with well honed design and development skills. This individual will be reponsible for all the deliveries of the engineering team.

Traits/capability for the roles include

- Ability to work closely with the onshore Architects & Leads in providing technology solutions.

- Ability to work with the engineers closely to implement all solutions.

- Must be capable of coaching / mentoring all engineers in the team.

- Must perform design reviews & detailed code reviews for all the code created by the engineering team

- Must be willing to concurrently manage work streams involving heterogeneous technologies

- Must be able to consult with other project teams & assist them adopt products developed in STS. This activity will demand very strong diagnosis & problem solving skills

- Ability to actively participate and contribute to project planning, tracking & execution

- Must actively collaborate with onshore Architects, Lead & product managers to define direction for the product

Key Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree ( Engineering Degree in Computer Science is very desireable )

- 9+ years experience.

Technical Requirement

- Java, must have worked with versions 1.4, 1.5 (5.0/Tiger) & 1.6 (6.0/Mustang)

- Very good knowledge of web servers, application containers & servlet container

- Administraton / tuning skills with Apache Tomcat & Apache HTTP Server is highly desirable.

- Very good understanding of concepts in cloud computing.

- Proficient with Spring Framework. Must be able to start on day 1 with

- Spring IOC

- Spring AOP

- Spring MVC

Note: Proficient is defined as

1. having holistic view of situation

2. prioritizes importance of aspects

3. perceives deviations from the normal pattern

4. uses "analytical approaches" in new situations

- Must have prior experience in developing & consuming either SOAP based services or REST based services.
Direct experience with the Apache Axis2 framework will be an added advantage

- Must have experience of building J2EE web applications (Servlets / JSP)

- Must be competent in data access technologies. JDBC is must. Ibatis/Mybatis is even better.

- Must have worked extensively in Junit to an extent where he/she can mentor engineers in the team to write effective test cases.

- Must be very hands on being able to work with UNIX / UNIX based operating systems.

- Must be competent in build tools ANT/Maven

- Prior experience about enterprise grade application deployment will be an added advantage

Qualitative Requirements

- Must have considerable experience in service identification, design principles, and patterns

- Must have a good vision / knowledge about Middle Tier Technologies like web services, ESB, Messaging infrastructure, Cloud Computing, Shared Infrastructure, etc.,

- Should be able to work on projects that cut across divisional and organizational boundaries

- Must have expertise in Object Oriented Analysis and design, and UML

- Should be able to work on Proof Of Concepts’s independently

- Should have excellent presentation, documentation and communication skills as well as skills to present/sell technology in business context to the stakeholders

- Experience in Agile development methodology is desirable
